Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied. Your provider directs the laser with controlled strength and depth based on your treatment plan, then applies post-procedure products. Preparation & Aftercare Guidelines
Before Your Treatment
- No treatment within 3 months of Accutane use.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure before your appointment.
- Discontinue photosensitizing medications 72 hours prior.
- Avoid active skincare ingredients 3–5 days before treatment.
- Not available for pregnant or breastfeeding patients.
After Your Treatment
- Avoid exercise for 24 hours.
- Skin will feel sunburnt initially; redness typically subsides within hours.
- A “sandpaper” texture develops within 24–48 hours and sloughs off over 5–7 days, this is normal and expected.
- Use gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and daily sunscreen; avoid manual exfoliation.
- Active skincare ingredients can typically resume after 5–7 days.

Most patients experience some warmth or a mild stinging sensation during treatment. If you’re concerned about discomfort, ask about our PRO-NOX™ nitrous oxide system, which provides immediate pain and anxiety relief during your session.
It depends on which laser you choose. CoolPeel™ and Clear + Brilliant® typically involve minimal to no downtime, while more intensive treatments like Helix’s deeper modes may involve several days of visible peeling. See our downtime breakdown in Section 7.
Most patients see visible results after one session, but a series of 3–6 treatments spaced about one month apart is typically recommended for optimal, longer-lasting results.
Results continue improving for several weeks after treatment and can last months to years, depending on your age, skin condition, and how consistently you protect your skin from the sun afterward.
