What To Expect
For all neurotoxin options, a complete treatment takes approximately five to ten minutes.
Before treatment, your practitioner will review the benefits and possible side effects. Your skin will be cleansed and topical numbing cream may be applied, depending on the procedure.
During your treatment, you will be made comfortable and a syringe containing the product is injected into the skin or underlying muscle. Injections are relatively painless and feel like a minor pinch. No anesthesia is required. Occasionally there may be mild, temporary redness and/or swelling at the injection site, which typically resolves within the hour.

When the treatment is over, you are ready to go. There is no downtime. However, as a precaution to keep the product from migrating from the injection site, we ask that you do not massage the injected areas, lie flat for at least four hours post-treatment, or exercise for the rest of the day.
Botox Treatment Guidelines
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
To reduce the risk of bruising, we advise that you:
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hrs prior to your appointment.
- Avoid blood thinning medications and supplements (e.g. ibuprofen, aleve, and fish oil).
- Take arnica up to 2 days before treatment.
- If you are prone to cold sores, please treat preventatively prior to treatment.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
Avoid exercise and alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of additional bruising and to allow time for the injectable product to integrate into your tissue.
Use ice as needed to reduce swelling.
IMPORTANT: Should you notice blanching or discoloration of the skin or are experiencing increasing pain or redness around the injection site, PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE.
Results
Results vary by product. In general, you will begin to see visible smoothing two to four days after injection. The full effects can occur as early as one or two weeks, or up to 30 days, after treatment. These are temporary treatments and the typical duration of the effect is three to four months.
