What is Platelet Rich Fibrin?

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) uses your body’s own fibrin to stimulate the skin’s ability to produce collagen. What To Expect

During the treatment, a syringe of blood is drawn, usually from the arm, while the face is numbing. The blood is then put into a centrifuge, which separates the PRP/PRF from other components of the blood. Once you’re numb, your practitioner will inject your own plasma/fibrin back into the area being treated. This process usually take about 30 minutes, though it can vary depending on the area you’re targeting.

The treatment area may be sore for two or three days, and you may notice some bruising. Acetaminophen can help ease discomfort.

Platet Rich Plasma Treatment Guidelines

Follow your practitioner’s instructions regarding medications that prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen or blood thinners. You should not take aspirin unless a doctor has prescribed it, but acetaminophen is fine for a headache.

When PRP is used to treat hair loss, wash your hair the day of treatment and do not use any products. A clean hat should be brought to the appointment and worn after the procedure to protect the area.

Because both PRP and PRF therapies involve drawing blood, it is important to eat a meal before your procedure to avoid lightheadedness.
