The hardest part of non-surgical anti-aging treatment is not the treatment. It is working out which one you actually need. There are more options than ever, most of them sound similar, and plenty of clinics will recommend whatever they happen to have the most of.
So instead of describing every treatment in turn, this guide works the other way round. Start with what is bothering you, and follow it to the treatments most likely to help. Each one links to its own page if you want the detail.
Lines That Appear When You Move Your Face
Forehead lines, the frown lines between your brows and crow’s feet all come from repeated muscle movement. Neurotoxins such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify relax the specific muscles responsible, so the skin above them softens. Results show within a week or two and last three to four months, and up to six with Daxxify.
If the lines are still there when your face is completely still, they have started to etch in, and a neurotoxin alone may not fully erase them. That is usually a sign to pair it with something that rebuilds the skin.
Hollowness and Lost Volume
Cheeks that have flattened, temples that have hollowed, lips that have thinned. Two different approaches work here. Dermal fillers add volume immediately and are the right choice when you want to see the change today. Sculptra works gradually, prompting your own body to rebuild collagen over several months, with results that last two years or more.
Many people use both: filler for the thing they want corrected now, Sculptra for the foundation underneath.
Sagging Along the Jawline and Neck
When the lower face starts to lose its line, volume alone rarely fixes it. The problem is laxity. Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound to the deep structural layer a surgeon would lift in a facelift, while Sofwave works a little more superficially with less discomfort and no downtime. We compare the two, and how they measure up against surgery, in a separate guide.
Texture, Scarring and Enlarged Pores
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that prompt new collagen, and it pairs well with PRP, your own concentrated growth factors, for acne scarring in particular. For deeper texture problems and more pronounced lines, laser skin resurfacing goes further, with more downtime to match.
Brown Spots, Sun Damage and Uneven Tone
In a city with Charleston’s sun, this is the most common concern we see. Chemical peels lift pigment and brighten tone, and a medium-depth peel can be adapted to every skin type. For stubborn or widespread damage, laser resurfacing goes deeper. At home, prescription-strength hydroquinone and a retinoid do a lot of the work between appointments. Our guide to repairing sun damage covers the whole picture.
Dull, Tired-Looking Skin
Sometimes nothing is wrong exactly. Skin just looks flat. DiamondGlow exfoliates, extracts and infuses serum in one visit, and dermaplaning removes the fine surface hair and dead cells that dull the complexion and stop products absorbing properly. Both have no downtime, which makes them popular before events.
Fullness Under the Chin
A small pocket of fat under the chin that does not shift with weight loss can be treated with an injectable. Our fat reduction treatment permanently breaks down fat cells in the area over a short series of sessions.
Crepey Skin on the Body
Thin, crinkled skin on the hands, arms, knees or chest is structural, which is why creams rarely help. Hyperdilute Radiesse thickens it from underneath by stimulating new collagen across a wide area.
Most People Need More Than One
Aging does not happen in one layer, so treating it rarely comes down to a single treatment. Someone in their forties with frown lines, some cheek flattening and sun spots might reasonably use a neurotoxin, a collagen stimulator and a peel across the same year. The skill is in sequencing them sensibly and not doing everything at once.
What Happens at Home Still Matters
No treatment outruns daily sun exposure. A broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, reapplied, does more for long-term skin than anything we can do in the clinic. Add a retinoid at night and a vitamin C serum in the morning and you have the core of a routine that protects whatever results you pay for.
Not Sure Where You Fit?
That is what the consultation is for. We start every one with a Visia skin analysis, which shows what is happening beneath the surface, and build the plan from there. If you would rather start on your own, our treatment planner gives you a tailored starting point in a couple of minutes.
